Sardi’s

The story

Vincent and Eugenia Sardi opened Sardi’s at its present Theatre District address in 1927. Its red dining rooms and more than a thousand caricatures became an unofficial clubhouse for Broadway and the birthplace of enduring theatrical traditions. The restaurant is undergoing a careful refresh and is scheduled to reopen in fall 2026.

Few restaurants embody their neighbourhood as completely: Sardi’s preserves Broadway history through its rooms, rituals and celebrated walls of portraits.
