Los Caracoles
Barcelona, Spain · Historic Catalan Restaurant

The story
The Bofarull family founded the business in 1835. Over generations it expanded into a labyrinthine restaurant of more than 300 seats, with a street-facing rotisserie kitchen, tiled passages, timbered dining rooms, old photographs and traditional Catalan cooking.
Why Los Caracoles is iconic
Its beauty is accumulated rather than designed in one gesture: a large, theatrical sequence of rooms that could only belong to old Barcelona and has survived under the founding family.
