Gundel

The story

A grand neo-Renaissance restaurant was built on this site for Ferenc Wampetics in 1894; Károly Gundel took it over in 1910 and made the name synonymous with Hungarian hospitality. Its formal salons, staircase, patterned floors and garden setting beside City Park still give dining here a ceremonial quality.
