Bremer Ratskeller

The story

Bremen’s municipal wine cellar moved beneath the newly built town hall in 1405 and has remained part of the city’s public life for more than six centuries. The present restaurant occupies the oldest vaulted section of the UNESCO-listed town hall, where whitewashed brick arches, long rows of tables and enormous eighteenth-century carved wine barrels frame a full menu of northern German dishes and an exceptional collection of German wine.
